Pretend Who You Want To Be

There are numerous benefits for ‘pretending’ to be someone you’re currently not. From a unique perspective, you can achieve everything you want in life if you have two things. A vision and an action plan.

I pretended to be somebody I wanted to be, until I finally became that person. Or he became me. – Cary Grant

The Power of Questioning

Having a clear vision of your best self, is the best way to set yourself up for ever-lasting success.
Ask yourself. What would my best self be like? How would he/she behave in certain situations, how would he/she react to certain stimuli? What things will be meaningful to my life? What sort of friends would I like?

For each of these questions, write down detailed answers with as much clarity as possible. And most importantly, live into this vision immediately. Live your life as close as possible to how you would imagine your highest self would be living; if he/she had the same challenges to face that you have had. How would they be tackled?

This is difficult

This is frickin’ hard. I am struggling with this myself. It is nigh on impossible (hate that word), to live directly into the life of an individual you have composed, on a piece of paper from the word ‘Go’. However, it is a starting point; and you should try to mould your life as close as possible to this vision every day.

This is the secret towards obtaining a balanced life. It’s simply about looking at your present situation and carefully introducing new habits and beliefs, in order to replace the current ones that are limiting your true potential.

Build Your Own House

You don’t set out to build a wall. You don’t say ‘I’m going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that’s ever been built.’ You don’t start there. You say, ‘I’m going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid. You do that every single day. And soon you have a wall. – Will Smith

Remember, your current actions determine your future self. So by living as close as possible to your best self, you are subconsciously enforcing the idea that today’s cultivation becomes tomorrow’s motivation. The final result becomes evident. You’ve stepped into the shadows of that individual and are no longer held back by your society, beliefs or environment in any way or form.

This is the model a lot of people who have bettered themselves follow. Decide who you want to be. Cultivate a plan to becoming that person; undergo consistent action, and reap the rewards.
